Louise Marie Smith is the founder and managing director of Neptune Sustainability Ltd. Her academic background is in environmental management, following which she spent several years producing Environmental Impact Assessments for a variety of industries and projects as well as implementing Environmental Management Systems to the ISO 140001 standard. Since 2013 Neptune has been solely focussed on building and improving sustainable practices in the film and TV industry. During that time Neptune has worked with a number of studios on a variety of feature films and high end TV, as well as work with the BBC, Film London and the British Film Commission. The work entails measuring and reporting CO2 emitting activities; implementing CO2 reduction strategies, setting up a sustainable supply chain, developing sustainable transport and power generation strategies, managing the use of water and fuel; effective segregation of waste streams and selection of waste vendors, education of the production team and crew on environmental standards and practices, and managing the on set Sustainability Stewards.
