Lane Shipsey

Ireland

Biography

Lane Shipsey grew up in Dublin. After living and working abroad, she returned to Ireland to make films. Lane's 2020 short doc, Olive Harvest, was shown at film festivals across Europe winning Judges Special mention (Short Film, RHIFF, 2021), and was runner up at West Side Mountain DocFest, Greece. In 2023 Lane completed the no-budget short experimental doc Cúpla Tunes which takes an idiosyncratic look at similarities in the migration patterns of songs, plants and people, with the participation of world famous Irish fiddler Kevin Burke, himself the product of migratory lines between Sligo, London, and Portland. Cúpla Tunes won the Experimental Film Award at Wales International Film Festival 2023. Scripts by Lane have won a prize in London and been shortlisted for several other awards before a new work was selected for a (2022) TfL workshop.
