Biography

Justyna Bilik (born 1992) is a screenwriter, songwriter for film and theatre and the director of experimental shorts. She has graduated from the National Film School in Łódź in the Film and Television Direction Department specializing in Screenwriting with a master’s degree in 2019. She has completed Sources 2, Midpoint, and Atelier Scenariuszowe courses. Screenwriter of the short film "Sashka" directed by Katarzyna Lesisz, awarded in Poland and abroad (among others: award at the Polish Film Festival in Gdynia, Grand Prix at the Ca 'Foscari Short Film Festival in Venice, Special Prize "Cinema without borders" at the Polish Film Festival in Los Angeles). She wrote a screenplay for the upcoming full feature film ”Norwegian Dream” directed by Igor Leiv Devold. The ”Norwegian Dream” is produced by the Spætt Film from the Norwegian side and by the SOLO Film from the Polish side. The project was developed under the artistic supervision of acclaimed screenwriter and lecturer Kristen Bonnen Rask and one of the UK’s best-known scriptwriters and script doctors- Karol Griffiths. Norwegian Dream recently wins Screen International Best Pitch Award at Polish Days 2022, New Horizons, Wroclaw. It's at final stage of post - production. Now Justyna is working on full feature musical "Bella shalom" about queer - feminist revolution lead by maids, sex workers and factory workers (which in 2021 received sholarship from Polish Film Institute). In art, Justyna as queer screenwriter deals with the subject of exclusion which she discusses using various genres. She recently directed and wrote Abortion Dream Team campaign "Her body - her choice", which was first pro- abortion campaign in Poland. Her stage name is Łaja Szkło and by this name she perform and writes lesbian songs. Her translation of italian anti-fascist song "Bella ciao" became one of the anthems of women rights protests in Poland.
