FESTIVALS & RELEASES

Counting down to Venice 2022

The 79th Venice International Film Festival - organised by La Biennale di Venezia – is ready to make magical, once again, the well-known Lido.

In 2022, the festival will be held from 31st August to 10th September and – as usual – we are excited to notice not only titles of films developed in the past inside the TFL labs but also various alumni/ae from all over the world keeping up with their great work with new amazing stories. Which ones?

This year the section ORIZZONTI features AUTOBIOGRAPHY by Makbul Mubarak.
The film – developed within FeatureLab 2017 – is the debut of the Indonesian director Makbul Mubarak and it deals with the consequences of the Soeharto dictatorship in Indonesia.

In the same section also Blanquita, directed by the TFL alumnus from Chile Fernando Guzzoni.

Furthermore, the lineup of ORIZZONTI EXTRA shows NEZOUH by Soudade Kaadan which was developed within the programme Interchange in 2013. The story is set in Syria and has been told as a fairytale drenched in dark humour.

Within the same section also Valeria is Getting Married, by the TFL alumna from Israel Michal Vinik.

We never have enough of the TFL community! We happily spotted within the Out of Competition - Short Films Camarera de piso by Lucrecia Martel and within Out of Competition - Non-Fiction Bobi Wine Ghetto President by Christopher Sharp.

During the Settimana Internazionale della Critica (SIC) it will be screened ANHELL69 by Theo Montoya (Colombia), who worked on this documentary project in a TFL Extended workshop in 2019.

Lastly, during the Giornate degli Autori there will be room for our alumnus Wissam Charaf with his Dirty, difficult, dangerous, for Carla Simón and her Carta de mi madre para mi hijo and for our TFL Up & Coming Italia participant of 2021 Federico Savonitto co-director of Un nemico invisibile.
