Berlinale 2022: Golden Bear and two more prizes to the #TFLfilms!

How proud are we on a scale from 1 to GOLDEN BEAR? The awards ceremony of the 72nd edition of the German festival brought incredible news for the TorinoFilmLab community.

Berlinale 2022: Golden Bear and two more prizes to the #TFLfilms!

Among the four films that have been screened in the last few days in Berlin three received an award, including the one and only Golden Bear.

The #TFLfilm ALCARRÀS by Carla Simón – written within ScriptLab 2018 - won the most prestigious prize. We want to congratulate the director, the whole crew and especially the co-producer Giovanni Pompili (KINO Produzioni), TFL alumnus and member of our pedagogical team.

If you want a preview, here’s the synopsis of the film:

As far as they can remember, the Solé family have spent every summer picking the peaches from their orchard in Alcarràs, a small village in Spain. But this year’s crop could be their last, as they face eviction. The new plans for the land include cutting down the peach trees and installing solar panels, which causes a rift within the large tight-knit family. For the first time, they face an uncertain future and risk losing more than their home.

It’s not over yet!
Still in the competition category, A PIECE OF SKY (ScriptLab 2018) by Michael Koch got a special mention, while the Best Director in the section Encounters is Cyril Schäublin for his film UNREST (FeatureLab 2019).

We celebrate with you all!
