Biography

Tunje Berns (1979, CH/NL) started the company Ardîne Filmproduktion GmbH in Basel in 2017. Before that she was part of the prolific Swiss art-house production company Dschoint Ventschr Film team from 2005 until 2012. From 2009, as a partner and producer she was responsible for the development, financing, production and post-production of the feature films «Operation Libertad» (Drama, 90 Min., Nicolas Wadimof, CH/F Cannes Festival • Quinzaine des réalisateurs), «Dawn» (Drama, 80 Min., Romed Wyder, CH/DE/UK/IL), «Räuberinnen» (Drama, 80 Min, Carla Lia Monti, CH/LUX), and the minority co-production with Germany «Puppe» (Drama, Sebastian Kutzli, DE/CH) among others. She graduated with a B.A. Hons in «Film, Media & TV» from Buckinghamshire Chilterns University in 2001 and completed EAVE in 2007 (with the project «Dawn»). With Sarah Derendinger in 2007 and Stina Werenfels in 2010 she attended the filmworkshop EKRAN at the Wajda Filmschool in Warsaw. In 2011 Tunje Berns took part in Torino Film Lab‘s Interchange program with the project «3000 Nights» by palestinian director Mai Masri. In 2015 she was the line producer for «Die Schwalbe» , a film shot in the Autonomous Region of Kurdistan in Northern Iraq. Tunje taught film at the SAE Institute in Zürich and is currently also an assessor for a European script development fund.
