Laura Baumeister is a Nicaraguan film director and sociologist. She currently lives in México, where she studied film directing at Centro de Capacitación Cinematográfica (CCC). Laura has directed the following short films: "Isabel Im winter" (2014), selected for the Critics´ Week at the Cannes Film Festival; "Fuerza Bruta"; (“Primal Force”, 2016), Special Mention at the Rencontres de Toulouse Film Festival (France), Best Actress at the Morelia International Film Festival, and best short film at the Mérida and Yucatán Film Festival; and "Ombligo de Água" (“Water Navel”, 2018), special jury mention at the Morelia International Film Festival. “Ombligo de Água” will have its world premiere at the Rotterdam International Film Festival (2019). Laura is currently working on the story of her first feature film, “La hija de todas las rabias”. This will be the first feature to be shot in Nicaragua by a Nicaraguan born female director — the 4th of all Nicaraguan cinematography. The project has been to previous screenplay workshops, such as Taller de Proyectos Cinematográficos de Centroamérica y Caribe (2017) and Screenplay Workshop at La Fundación Carolina. “The daughter of all rages”, which is a co-executive production between Nicaragua and France, has won both the Hubert Bals — Bright Future and Ibermedia Development Funds.
