Born in 1986 in Marseille from parents immigrating from Senegal, Romuald lives and work in Vitrolles, in the south east of France. After a high school diploma specialising in cinéma, he got a degree in Sociology (Aix-Marseille University). He then got an audiovisual advanced technician’s certificate. In 2005, he takes part in audiovisual workshops organised by the organisation Vatos Locos Vidéo which revealed a true passion in him. In 2008, he became one of the first employees of the structure and supervised lmmaking workshops with young people. Romuald developed his skills and gradually became responsible for the management of audiovisual projects and professional training. In addition to making around a hundred films as part of his work (fiction, music videos or corporate films), he has met filmmakers who have sharpened his eye for cinema. In 2012 and 2015, he strengthened his experience on two professional short films: Passion mécanique by Ludovic Piette (Prod. BIZIBI, broadcasted on OCS CITY) and Le Bûcher de Saïd by Julien Sicard (Prod. FILMO, CNC, France 2) as assistant director. In 2016 and 2017, he was selected for the the WarshatAflam programme, a scriptwriting workshop in Marseille, in partnership with CNC. His tutor was Jérôme Nunes (Films de Force Majeure) for the development of the script of the short lm Get Lost (Trace ta route). Produced by Films de Force Majeure, the short film will be released in 2019. Selected in about 20 festivals (Quinzaine en actions as part of Cannes Festival, Ecrans noirs (Cameroon), Festival Tous courts, JCK (Tunisia), BCN Sports Film Festival (Spain), Paris Courts Devant, Africlap...), winner of 4 prizes (including CNC Prix Qualité), the film was broadcasted on France 2. Winner of the CINÉTALENTS programme (supported by CNC, Bourgogne Franche-Comté Region & the La France s’engage Foundation) organised by 1000 VISAGES, in order to support emerging talents through, he wrote and directed the short film Enclos (France 3). Romuald has just completed A Glorious day (CNC, Région Sud, France 2...), a short film he co-wrote and co-directed with Ludovic Piette whose postproduction has just been completed. Capitaine is his first feature film project which he started working on in 2021 (with the support of Région Sud, Procirep-Angoa and the City of Marseille).
