Biography

Born in London and educated at the French Lycee, Sol left school at 16 to work in the film and music businesses. At 25 she decided to return to study Producing at the National Film & TV School. Sol’s award winning shorts received BAFTA nominations over 2 consecutive years. In 2000 Sol set up The Bureau with Bertrand Faivre who was then producing The Warrior, Asif Kapadia’s double-BAFTA winning debut. Sol co-produced Dagur Kari’s multi-award winning debut “Noi Albinoi”, “L’Annulaire” by Diane Bertrand and the Oscar, Golden Globe and BAFTA nominated “Joyeux Noel” by Christian Carion. In 2006 Sol produced the micro budget multi award winning debut of Alexis Dos Santos “Glue”. Most recently she produced Dos Santos’ second movie “Unmade Beds” which premiered in Sundance, opened the Generations section in Berlin, won the Audience Award at the Crossing Europe Festival, and most recently won the Grand Jury Prize at Korea’s Jecheon Film & Music Festival. In 2001 The Bureau launched Cinema Extreme, a short film initiative between the UK Film Council and Film4. The first four shorts from directors Andrea Arnold, Jens Jonsson, Duane Hopkins and Amit Kumar, won over fifty awards including Best Short at the Oscars® & Sundance 2005. From May ‘06 to July ’07 Sol was the Creative Executive of Film London’s seminal ultra low budget feature film scheme Microwave where she executive produced award winning horror “Mum & Dad” and 5 times BIFA nominated “Shifty”. Sol is a member of PACT and ACE.
