Stéphane Cabel

France

Biography

Born in 1965, Stéphane Cabel first works as an actor and stage director, before becoming a scriptwriter. After a few years of learning, mainly on animated TV series, and taking part in three feature films as a co-writer, he writes Brotherhood of the wolf – his first solo script. The film is released in early 2001 and is a great success. In the following years, he engages in several “commissioned” projects, mostly novels adaptations, but also press documents and graphic novels, some of them having become films, such as The Stone Council (Le Concile de Pierre, UGC), The Big Picture (L’homme qui voulait vivre sa vie, Europacorp), or The Clearstream Affair (L’Enquête, Nord-Ouest Productions) and some still in progress : Comme des héros (Like heroes, Toys Films) or La danse du fou (The crazy one’s dance, Nord-Ouest)... And much more have disappeared in the limbo of the “Development Hell”... Besides, he also works on original scripts, sometimes on spec (Krim), alternating as much as possible between big-budget films and “lighter” projects. After a strong start of the year, marked by the release of The Clearstream Affair (L’enquête), by Vincent Garenq, Stéphane is still working on several scripts of upcoming features.
