Biography

Born 15th June 1968. Marco received his university degree in Lettere Moderne. After numerous experiences in the theatre and with several film shorts, he dedicated his career to screenplay writing for cinema and television, a success which he has shared with his writing partner of over fifteen years, Fausto Brizzi. As screenwriter he debuted in television in 1997 with the series "Tutti gli uomini sono uguali" directed by Alessandra Capone, with M. Wertmuller and E. De Caro. His first film as Director is "Cemento Armato", (aka Concrete Romance) an urban film noir with Giorgio Faletti, Nicolas Vaporidis and Carolina Crescentini, a small international success for the Italian noir niche. Winner of Braunschweig international Film Festival  2008. Along with Fausto Brizzi, he penned the blockbuster movies "EX " (2009), " Notte Prima Degli Esami – Oggi" (2007) and "Notte Prima Degli Esami" (2006). Since 1999 he has collaborated with Neri Parenti for whom he wrote the screenplays for the box office hits "Tifosi" (1999), "Bodyguards" (2000), "Merry Christmas" (2001), "Natale sul Nilo" (2002), "Natale in India" (2003), "Christmas in Love"  (2004), "Natale a Miami" (2005), "Natale a New York" (2006), "Natale a Rio" (2008).  He also wrote "The Clan" (2005) directed by Christian De Sica. Contemporaneously, Martani developed a successful career as a television writer. His scripts include "Due imbroglioni e mezzo" with Claudio Bisio and Sabrina Ferilli; "Il mio amico Babbo Natale" with Lino Banfi and Gerry Scotti; "Benedetti dal Signore" with Enzo Greggio and Enzo Iacchetti; "Non ho l’età" with Marco Columbro;  "Sei Forte Maestro" with Emilio Solfrizzi; "Onora il padre" with Leo Gullotta; "Valeria medico legale" with Claudia Koll; "Scuola di guai"; "Lui e lei" with Vittoria Belvedere. He is the screenwriter, along with Fausto Brizzi, of "Cuore Nero", a film written and directed by Cristiano Bortone, now in pre-production.
