After a master’s degree in political science and media management, and a one-year internship at the San Francisco Film Society, Clémence Lavigne studied film distribution at France’s La Femis Film School where she wrote an essay on film sales and financing which eventually led her to start working as a sales agent for Celluloid Dreams in 2016. She joined Doc & Film International in January 2018 as the Acquisition and Sales Manager of the cinema department. When Doc & Film International was bought out by distribution company Jour2Fête, Clémence Lavigne became co-head of sales and acquisitions for the newly born sales company: The Party Film Sales. From Touch Me Not by Adina Pintillie to Two of Us by Filippo Meneghetti or more recently Orlando, My political biography by Paul B Preciado, among others, Clémence Lavigne represented films exploring new forms of cinema as well as contemporary and impactful narratives “dear to her heart”. In April 2023, she left her position at The Party Film Sales to start a new adventure as a freelancer in film development. As a consultant, she worked for Le Groupe Ouest in 2024 as well as for the coproduction market of Les Arcs Film Festival in 2023 and 2024. She recently joined French production companies Temps Noir (documentaries & series) & Dibona Films (fiction films) to support them on the development of their feature films and to initiate her own projects as a producer.
