Laura Salerno graduated in Foreign Languages and Literatures from the University of Bari (Italy) in 1998.
After teaching English and German in schools, she worked in the tourism industry in Italy and then joined
IBM in the United Kingdom.
In 2003 she attended in Rome the Course in International Functions at SIOI - Società Italiana per
l’Organizzazione Internazionale and started working in the Italian Public Administration at Direzione Generale
Cinema e Audiovisivo (DGCA) - Ministry of Culture (MiC), where she still works.
Within the Secretariat General she dealt with screenplay reading of film projects applying for “National
Cultural Interest” for ten years. She also worked at the tax credit office.
In 2018 and 2019 she was a member of the Commission of the National Plan “Cinema for School”, promoted
by the Italian Ministry of Culture and the Italian Ministry of Education, University and Research.
Since August 2020 she is responsible for International funds and minority co-productions at DGCA.
From January 2021 to June 2023 she was a member of the technical evaluation Commission “Lazio Cinema
International”.
Since December 2022 she is substitute national representative at Eurimages. She is also involved in
Ibermedia, MEDIA strand of the Creative Europe programme and activities related to EFAD – European Film
Agency Directors association.
