Anastasia Veber is a director, writer, and poet. She won the Golden Bear for the best short film at the Berlin International Film Festival (2022) with her short film 'Trap' and received a double award at the 65th International Film Festival in Oberhausen (Special Mention and 2nd Place Award at the NRW Competition for the short film 'Syndrome IO'). Both shorts have screened at over 40 festivals worldwide. Anastasia was a member of the Locarno Film Academy (2023) and a juror at the Dumbo Film Festival (2023, NY). A scholar of cast&cut program by Kulturstiftung Hannover and nordmedia with short film Opera of horror and Salvation (AT). Currently, Anastasia lives in Berlin, writes her first feature project, and works as a director and 1st AD on commercial and film projects. She graduated from the Saint Petersburg School of New Cinema (Directing) in 2018 and from the Saint Petersburg University of Cinema and Television (Screenwriting) in 2016. Anastasia explores youth, discrimination, and religious themes using cinematic tools, performances, and poetry. She also works as a curator of directing classes at the Saint Petersburg School of New Cinema (remote). Anastasia produces her own innovative online course, 'CINEMASTORIES,' where she teaches how to develop the nature of the 'cinematic image' and how to create experimental video essays for Instagram. Additionally, she sings in a choir and develops the connection between music and cinema in her practice.
