Biography

Ashmita Guha Neogi (1991) is an Indian writer-director based out of Delhi, India. She studied Film Direction & Screenwriting from the Film and Television Institute of India. Her diploma film at the institute, CatDog (2020), won the top prize in the Cinefondation and NEST section of the Cannes Film Festival and San Sebastian Film Festival respectively. Her short film, Silan (2023), premiered in the Zabaltegi-Tabakalera section of the San Sebastian Film Festival. Currently Ashmita is developing her first fiction feature, Cold Ashes Can Cause Forest Fires. The project was granted the Hubert Bals Script Development Fund in 2022. She has participated in Munich FilmUp 2022-23 (collaboration between HFF Munchen and Pop Up Film Residency) and BoostNL 2023-24 (collaboration between IFFR and NFF) with the same project.
