Biography

Maxim Cirlan was born in Moldova in 1987. He finished school in the UK, lived and studied Classical Philology in Greece and afterwards directing and scriptwriting in Prague. During cinema school he was mostly working as an AD at numerous projects in cooperation with FAMU and PFS. In 2010 he participated at the Youth4Media workshop supported by the EU Youth in Action Programme. In the same year he attended the workshop The methodology of directing for theatre taught by Jorge Saura Garcia of the Royal Drama Academy of Madrid. In 2013 he took part at the workshops of the Cannes Short Film Corner. He is co-writing with the Romanian director Nora Agapi, the feature documentary film Timebox, which participated at the Sarajevo Film Festival and won the first prize at the pitching session of the OneWorldRomania Film Festival 2014. He has shot 4 short films and his diploma work Now you know participated at more than 20 international film festivals. Since 2013 he has been living in Berlin and he is currently works on the script of his feature film debut Living Berlin.
