Biography

Kirsikka Saari is a screenwriter-director living in Helsinki. She was Oscar nominated as a screenwriter of the short comedy Do I Have to Take Care of Everything? She has written a script for the feature film Stupid Young Heart (dir. Selma Vilhunen), which won Crystal Bear in the Berlinale and Jussi prize for the Best Screenplay. Her works as a screenwriter-director include the awarded collection film Force of Habit, comedy series Carpe F**king Diem! and awarded short films Fat Dance, After the Reunion and Super Comfort. She has written a critically acclaimed novel and play for the Finnish National Theatre. She has graduated from the Helsinki University and ELO Film School Helsinki / Aalto University School of Arts, Design and Architecture. She has attended many European workshops and short courses (e.g. Script & Pitch, eQuinoxe, NFTL) and many of her films have been internationally co-produced and distributed.
