Story Editing is a training workshop for film professionals willing to accompany writers and directors in the development of their fiction feature projects.
For the first time in TFL Next workshops – through out all the year – we will have the simultaneous presence of selected film projects teams and story editors, working together – guided by experienced mentors – on the film treatments development.
If you are interested in the TFL Next Feature Film call for applications for projects please visit the dedicated page.
Participants will acquire skills in the fields of treatment analysis, assessment of project development and script consulting. More concretely, they will gain insight and training in working with writers, from an idea up to a professional draft of the treatment, helping them find the core of their story and encouraging a script loyal to the intention of the writer and/or director.
The aim of the programme is to provide an insight into the development process, focusing on specific technical material.
Participants will also learn and experiment how to shape and phrase feedback, written or oral, taking into account the project holder’s psychological aspect.
The participants will be selected to work online in a group guided by a tutor, who has wide international experience as a script consultant.
The workshop itself is divided into 2 development sessions:
-a first 5 day-long session, where the selected project teams discuss their work in group sessions and individual meetings with their tutors and story editors trainees.
-then, the project teams have 3 weeks to rework their materials.
- a second 4 day-long session, where participants share and discuss their work again in group and individual meetings with their mentors and story editor trainees.
