Toronto Calling for 4 TFL films

A new festival across the ocean is just around the corner: from 4th to 14th September, the Toronto Film Festival will take place, and as usual, it features a bunch of world premieres for films developed within the Lab. Which ones?

Toronto Calling for 4 TFL films

AMOEBA by Siyou Tan (ScriptLab 2022) – Discovery
At an authoritarian all-girls school, four misfit teens form a secret gang. Their fumbling rebellion unearths buried desires and the quiet violence of growing up in contemporary Singapore.

LAUNDRY
by Zamo Mkhwanazi (ScriptLab 2017) - Discovery
A young man struggles to find his own path and save his father and his family business under a violent and oppressive apartheid regime in Zamo Mkhwanazi’s stunning feature debut.

SINK
by Zain Duraie (Red Lodge Sea 2021) – Discovery
Mental health issues are a taboo subject in many countries. Jordan is no exception. Based on a personal story, this poignant debut feature  deals with the close relationship between a mother and her mentally disturbed teenage son.

OUR FATHER by Goran Stankovic (Green Film Lab 2022 - Trento) – Discovery
Based on true events, the film portrays a recovering addict in an isolated Serbian monastery where not even God can save him from the extreme treatment methods of an authoritarian patriarch.

We also want to congratulate our alumni for their new titles being showcased: Unidentified by Haifaa Al Mansour (Centrepiece) and Hen by György Pálfi (Platform).
