Samuel Sené

After showing early interest in various fields of studies (youngest awarded baccalauréat in France at the age of 14, and a PhD in Mathematics obtained at the age of 19), Samuel Sené trained at the Music and Theatre Academies of Orléans and St-Maur (France) where he won multiple awards with honors for piano, orchestra conducting, and stage direction. His professional experience started as a First Assistant Director for various operas and operettas productions in France, such as "Les contes d'Hoffman" at Paris Bercy, "Olé! Carmen" at the Stade de France or "Le Paris d'Aziz et Mamadou" at the Opéra Bastille. He was later hired to direct "Carmen", "Orpheus in the Underworld", "Hamlet", "I Pagliacci", "Tosca", "Death in Venice" and "Norma". After that, Samuel's career promptly turned to musical theatre. He took the musical direction of the French productions of "Fame", "Fiddler on the Roof", "She Loves Me", "West Side Story", "Elegies for Punks, Angels and Raging Queens", “Next Thing You Know” and is currently working on "First Date", “Billy Elliott” and “Into the Woods”. He was author and director for several musical plays, “Contes sans frontière”, “Jack l’ombre de Whitechapel”, “Peter and the Wolf”, “Le dernier jour”, “Les légendes parisiennes” and the “Marius awards”, awards for musical theatre in France. He wrote two shows currently running in Saint-Petersburg (Russia): “Yves Montand, Paris’ sun” and “Captain Nemo”, and adapted “The Flying Dutchman”, an opera for young audience (Italy, France, Germany – edited by Universal). In London, he created the “West End Frenchies” in an effort to bring together all French speaking musical theatre writers and performers living in London. He also wrote “Comment travailler plus efficacement", book for college and university training, and is currently finishing a warm-up guide for singers: “Allez on s’échauffe”.
