Biography

Nathalie Basteyns (1972) majored in directing at the LUCA Schoolof Arts in Brussels. Here she directed the prize winning short documentary De kus (The Kiss) (Prix regards neufs - Vision duReel – Nyon 1999). She made several documentaries for Canvas incollaboration with Kaat Beels. She directed multiple shows for different production companies, such as Napels zien, Bal Mondial and Belga Sport. She made the jump from reality to fiction by producing and directing projects such as Cologne and Jes. In 2012 she co-directed Clan (The Out-laws) with Kaat Beels, a black comedy that aired in the UK on Channel 4. The duo went on to work on Hotel Beau Séjour, which has already gained international acclaim at numerous festivals and has been sold to various territories, such as Germany and France (ARTE). The show has also been sold to Netflix US, Canada, Australia, South America and Scandinavia. Basteyns is currently Creative Supervisor atproduction company De Mensen, where she oversees and directs several shows and movies, such as Chaussée d’Amour (Highway of Love, nominated at C21 International Drama Awards) and Facades. She is currently working on the development of Lost Luggage and Beau Sejour 2.
