Biography

Rui Poças (December 4, 1966) is an award winning Director of Photography best known for his collaboration in ZAMA, Lucrecia´s Martel latest feature film witch premiered at the 74th Venice International Film Festival, bringing Poças a nomination and awarding him as a runner-up for the International Cinephile Society awards. ZAMA was nominated for 56 awards, giving Poças the win for best cinematography in the Fenix Film Awards and The Platino Awards for Iberoamerican cinema. He recently shot Ira Sachs´s Frankie, staring Isabelle Huppert, Greg Kinnear, Marisa Tomei and Jérémie Renier and is a regular collaborator of the Portuguese filmmakers Miguel Gomes; "This Dear Month of August" and "Tabu" and João Pedro Rodrigues; ”Phantom”, "To Die Like a Man", "and "The Ornithologist”, the latter being nominated for Best Film and winning best director in Locarno Film Festival.
