Matteo Tortone is an Italian director, screenwriter, producer. His debut feature Mother Lode
won the Eurimages Lab Award 2019, was presented in competition at 2021 Venice’s Critics Week,
selected and awarded in over 40 festivals, including Thessaloniki, Shanghai, Guadalajara, Doc
NYC - where it received the Special Mention from the Jury. The film garnered praise from critics
and audiences worldwide and it was distributed in Italy by Zalab. Tortone ventured into fiction
with his latest short film Domenica Sera that premiered at the 2024 Venice's Critic Week, being
the closing short. In 2025 he won the David di Donatello as Best Short Film with Domenica
Sera. He is an alumni of TorinoFilmLab.
