Biography

Yanis Gaye is a French-Senegalese creative producer, co-founder of the boutique production houses Goree Cinema (SN) and Strange Fruit Production House (FR), focusing primarily on project development and facil- itating international co-productions of films from Africa and its diasporas. Dedicated to both fiction and creative documentaries, his films garnered recognition at international festivals such as the Hamburg Shortfilm Festival, New York African FF (Mbas Mi, 2020, Joseph Gaï Ramaka), and FESPACO (Doxan- deem, 2023, Saliou Sarr). Yanis has partici- pated in esteemed industry programmes and is an alumni of EFM Toolbox and the EAVE Producers’ Workshop (2023). He is a mentor for the Durban Talents programme and one of the experts solicited for the co-creation of DFM’s Future Mentors Programme. Recent- ly, Yanis co-founded Yetu (Un)Limited – a multi-venture African film studio based on an endogenous and sustainable creative eco-system that aims to foster independent filmmaking from African markets.
