Biography

Lixi Frank, born in 1987, studied production at the Vienna Film Academy and completed studies in journalism and communication science as well as theatre, film and media at the University of Vienna. She was a junior producer at Nikolaus Geyrhalter Filmproduktion and independently produced Kurdwin Ayub’s documentary PARADISE! PARADISE! (New Waves Non-Fiction Award, Sevilla Film Festival and Young Talent Award, Duisburg Film Week 2016). In 2018 she founded Panama Film together with David Bohun. Since the beginning, Panama film’s productions have been well received and toured renowned international festivals. Sebastian Brameshuber’s documentary MOVEMENTS OF A NEARBY MOUNTAIN, was awarded the Grand Prix during its world premiere at the 2019 Cinéma du Réel in Paris. Sandra Wollner’s feature film THE TROUBLE WITH BEING BORN premiered at the 2020 Berlinale Encounters Competition and won the Special Jury Award. In parallel to her work as a producer, Lixi has also co-authored some projects, such as Bernhard Braunstein’s documentary STAMS, which is currently in production. In 2019 she completed ProPro - a producer’s programme for women.
