Marta Cruañas (1992) is a producer from Barcelona. She co-leads the film and television department at CANADA (ES) and is a regular collaborator with Lastor Media (ES), Vilaüt Films (ES), and Materia Cinema (ES). Her career took off with Elena Martín's feature debut JÚLIA IST (2017), directed by Elena Martín Gimeno. The film was screened at international festivals such as Warsaw IFF '14, Málaga IFF '17, and São Paulo IFF '17, and was distributed in cinemas throughout Spain. Maintaining a productive creative collaboration with Martín Gimeno, in 2023 she released CREATURA, which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival Directors' Fortnight 2023, where it received the Europa Cinemas Label Award for Best European Film. The film won six Gaudí Awards and earned four Goya Award nominations. In 2024, Cruañas co-produced Constance Tsang's feature debut BLUE SUN PALACE, which debuted at Cannes Critics' Week 2024 and was awarded the French Touch jury prize. That same year, Cruañas premiered the documentary feature DIOSA, directed by Cyprien Clément-Delmas, at the Atlàntida IFF, and the short film EL PRÍNCEP by Alex Sardà at the Seminci Film Festival 2024. Throughout her career, Marta has produced many short films, including FORASTERA by Lucía Aleñar, CARNIVORE by Constance Tsang, SOLASTALGIA by Gabriel Urbonaite, LA VIRGEN, LA VIEJA, EL VIAJE by Natalia Luque, BEAU by Constance Tsang, and DEMÀ HO DEIXEM by David Moragas, among others. Cruañas is currently in post-production for Lucía Aleñar's feature debut FORASTERA, based on a proof-of-concept short film selected by Cannes Critics' Week 2020. She is also working on PLÀNCTON, Irene Moray's third short film, and EL JARDÍ DEL DIABLE, Pol Rebaque's debut short film. Additionally, Cruañas is developing Irene Moray's feature debut SEALSKIN, a project that has been developed at the Torino Script Lab and Torino Feature Lab; Nicolás Méndez's feature debut WHEN I SING, MOUNTAINS DANCE, based on the bestseller by Irene Solà; Nur Casadevall's feature debut LÍDIA DE CADAQUÉS, co-written by Elena Serra; and Jiajie Yu Yan's second feature TIMES OF LONELINESS, VIOLENCE, AND YOUTH, among other projects. Marta Cruañas is an alumna of the Rotterdam Lab 2016, Zurich Film Festival Academy 2022, Berlinale Talents 2022, Torino Feature Lab 2023, and EAVE: Ties That Bind 2024. She holds a degree in Audiovisual Communication from Pompeu Fabra University and a master's degree in Creative Producing from Columbia University. Currently, Marta teaches development and production at Pompeu Fabra University.
