Born in Vienna, father of a son, studied acting at the School of Physical Theatre in Toronto, Canada, and directing at the Vienna Film Academy under Michael Haneke. His short films and documentaries have been shown and awarded at international film festivals. His short feature film "Musik“ won the prize for best short fiction film at the "Diagonale - Festival of Austrian Film". At the "First Steps Awards" of the German Film Academy, "Musik" won in the medium-length feature film category. Stefan's first feature documentary "Brother Jakob, are you sleeping?“ won six awards for best documentary at international film festivals. Among others in Mumbai, Moscow, Trento and Kitzbühel. It was also nominated for the Austrian Film Award.
