Biography

Ayman El Amir is an Egyptian film producer and script consultant. As a producer, his work includes the short fiction, FAKH, selected for the official competitions of Semaine de la Critique at Cannes Film Festival and TIFF (Toronto International Film Festival) 2019 and the feature documentary HAPPILY EVER AFTER, which premiered at IDFA 2016. He works through his Cairo-based production company, Felucca Films, to help filmmakers explore and shape their own personal voices and to produce unique and original fiction and documentary films, with a special focus on fresh and new talents and contemporary social issues. He is an alumnus of EAVE Producer’s Workshop 2019. As a script consultant, he has been connected with many programs, labs and institutes including TorinoFilmLab, Full Circle Lab, Doha Film Institute, The Film Prize of the Robert Bosch Stiftung, International Marrakesh Film Festival Atlas Workshop and The Royal Film Commission of Jordan. He consults privately on films and leads several international script development workshops and masterclasses. In 2016, he implemented MAHD Film Lab, a Cairo-based script development programme open to filmmakers working on Arab film projects and Arab-European co-production. He runs also Dahshur Genre Script Development Residency, an Egyptian screenwriting residency dedicated for developing genre film projects. El Amir has an MFA degree in filmmaking with a double major in both film production and screenwriting. In 2013, he collaborated with USC (University of South California) School of Cinematic Arts to establish the first film production program of its kind in Saudi Arabia’s all-female Effat University.
