Azza El-Hassan is a writer/director/producer whose work has been shown on several international TV networks including BBC, ARTE, YLE or MBC. Her films have also been screened at festivals such as Yamagata (J), IDFA (NL) and Leipzig (GER) as well as in numerous independent cinemas and art venues. El-Hassan is the winner of the 2006 Luchino Visconti Award “Mediterranean Sensibilities" , the 2002 Grierson Award for Best Newcomer (The British Documentary Awards, BBC) and the 2001 Jury Award Arab Screen Independent Film Festival, Qatar. Her films include “Always Look them in the Eyes” (07), “Kings & Extras” (04), “3cm Less” (03), “News Time " (01), “The Place” (00), “Sinbad is a She” (99), “A Title Deed from Moses” (98), “Arab Women Speak Out” (96).
