Biography

Elaine Gallagher is an Irish writer, director, producer and stand up comedian from Ireland. She recently co-directed her debut feature-film, “The Comeback”. Her previous work as a writer-director includes the Irish Film Board funded short film, “An Rinceoir” (2011), which is currently on the Irish language syllabus for the Junior Certificate First Year programme. Elaine's other short films include, “Reel: Irish Women” (2016), which explores the untold story of the women who took part in the 1916 Rising, and the comedy shorts, “Follow Me” (2017) and “The Don'ts Of Cycling” (2018). Elaine has also written for television, for the RTÉ sketch comedy series, “The Mario Rosenstock Show”. As a stand up, Elaine has performed at venues across Ireland, as well as in New York, L.A., San Francisco, Toronto and Montréal. She is currently previewing her one woman show, “The Freedom Machine” ahead of its run at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in August.
