Biography

In 2024, Juliette SCHRAMECK founded her production company, Lumen, in partnership with Atelier de Production, the company run by Thomas and Mathieu Verhaeghe. Together, they produced EAT THE NIGHT by Caroline Poggi and Jonathan Vinel, which was presented in 2024 at the Directors' Fortnight in Cannes. The film won seven awards in France and internationally within four months. For 2025, Lumen is co-producing ORPHAN, the third film by Laszlo Nemes, which was shot in the summer of 2024 with Gregory Gadebois. Shortly after, they will co-produce and handle the executive production in Normandy for Joachim Trier’s new film, SENTIMENTAL VALUE, starring Stellan Skarsgard, Renate Reinsve, and Elle Fanning. In 2025, the adaptation of a true story, LES FRAISES by Laïla Marrakchi, will be filmed in Morocco and Spain. Additionally, in development, Lumen is working on Lukas Dhont’s third film, COWARD; Corneliu Porumboiu’s first French film, THE COSTUME; and Tom Volf’s new documentary on Véronique Sanson, VERONIQUE. Before founding Lumen, Juliette was associated with the collective Agat Films - Ex Nihilo, where she co-produced HOLLY by Fien Troch, which competed at the Venice Film Festival in 2023, and developed other projects. From 2010 to 2020, she headed mk2 films, the content division of the mk2 group. In this role, she co-produced THE WORST PERSON IN THE WORLD by Joachim Trier (2 Oscar nominations – Best Screenplay and Best International Feature; Best Actress Award – Cannes 2021), COLD WAR by Pawel Pawlikowski (3 Oscar nominations – Best Director, Best Cinematography, and Best International Feature; Best Director Award – Cannes 2018), ASH IS PUREST WHITE and MOUNTAINS MAY DEPART by Jia Zhang Ke (Competition – Cannes 2015 and 2018). She also acquired and distributed internationally films by Justine Triet, Ryusuke Hamaguchi, Céline Sciamma, Corneliu Porumboiu, Mati Diop, Naomi Kawase, Michel Franco, Yorgos Lanthimos, Kôji Fukada, and Olivier Assayas, among others. The catalog she oversaw for France and abroad includes works by Charlie Chaplin, Agnès Varda, Jacques Demy, François Truffaut, Robert Bresson, Krysztof Kieslowski, Abbas Kiarostami, and Claude Chabrol. Juliette began her career at Les Films du Losange, working in distribution and international sales for films by directors such as Michael Haneke, Barbet Schroeder, Nicolas Philibert, Michel Deville, and Sophie Fillières. She holds degrees from Sciences-Po Paris, the Distex program at La Fémis, and Panthéon-Assas University. She is also a Young Leader of the French-American Foundation.
