Biography

Filmmaker and producer, Andrea Parena co-founded in Turin the production company BabyDoc Film in 2007. He produced documentaries selected by film festivals as Locarno, Venice, Turin, Cinéma du réel, winning awards like the David di Donatello and the Joris Ivens Award. He worked as an author and videomaker for documentaries as Operai (Doc3 Rai 3, 2008) and Thyssenkrupp Blues (Venice Film Festival, Orizzonti, 2009). He also is co-author of the script and subject of Rata Nece Biti (David di Donatello Award 2009), produced by BabyDoc Film. As a documentary filmmaker he directed Nozze d'Agosto (2012), presented at the Venice Film Festival, Venice Days/Venice Nights and La vita in mezzo (2021), an Italian-Moroccan co- production, premiered at Visioni dal Mondo–International Documentary Festival Milan. He also worked as a DOP on theatrical documentary films, recently including Il tempo rimasto (2021), by Daniele Gaglianone, produced by Zalab, Rai Cinema, Istituto Luce and Se fate I bravi, by Stefano Collizzolli, produced by Samarcanda, Harald House, Zalab.
