ComedyLab wishes to explore the potential of comedy by bridging two worlds: the film industry and the comedy world (encompassing everything from stand-up comedy or podcasts, theater and improvisation) hence we decided to target both international scriptwriters and comedians who want to develop feature film comedy project or boost their experience and skills in comedy writing.
We are building a truly unique club that pairs scriptwriters with talented comedians who will bring their expertise and comedic brilliance, furthermore, this is going to be the first-ever international Lab in Europe dedicated wholeheartedly to comedy.
ComedyLab will begin with a preliminary workshop where up to 10 applications will be pre-selected, afterwards 4 carefully selected projects together with writers/comedians that applied without a project will have the exclusive chance to work side by side directly on script development.
Overall, the programme will feature three residential workshops, a few online sessions in between and a final presentation of the projects during the TFL co-production forum, the TFL Meeting Event, in November 2024.
Please check out the just-released call for applications and submit yours by the 20th of December.
Finally, since we are in a hilarious mood but right in the middle of the spooky season, prepare yourself for a nice evening in the company of two TFL films available for free on Festival Scope from 31st October to 30th November. The two comedies are THE WOODCUTTER STORY by Mikko Myllylahti and DIAMANTINO by Gabriel Abrantes and Daniel Schmidt (FeatureLab 2013, Grand Prix Nespresso - La Semaine de la Crique 2018).
So, this Halloween, why not laugh your head off?
