In support of Ukraine, what we can do

These past few days left us all feeling helpless and speechless nevertheless, we felt the urge to reach out to our network of filmmakers in Ukraine with one question: what can we do?

This news – constantly updated –contains reliable sources useful if you want to help:

Helping. Ukraine: For humanitarian initiatives related to hospitals, housing and more.

In support of filmmakers: The DocuDays UA (International Human Rights Documentary Film Festival) is gathering funds to support Ukrainian based filmmakers in their effort to capture and document the events that take place in their country.

For Ukrainian creatives: the Polish agency Match and Spark wishes to connect creatives from Ukraine, who are looking for work, with producers who are offering work; get in touch with them at: ms@matchspark.com

Ukrainian Red Cross Society: All the details to make a donation.

Support from Poland: Our partner EAVE together with the Polish film industry is stepping up to Ukrainians fleeing from the warzone or staying in the country to join the current military activities; Polish Producers Alliance (KIPA) is also active to offer work and accommodation to the refugees.
Also, the Polish Film Academy and Polish Producers Alliance are coordinating 19 film organisations in Poland and in cooperation with the Polish Film Institute, are working to provide for Ukrainian friends with all that they need. The highest priority right now are: professional or semi-professional reporter’s equipment, life-saving amenities such as kevlar helmets, bulletproof vests, personal first aid war kits.

Support from the Czech Republic: Here is a dedicated webpage in Ukrainian with crucial support information to Ukrainian people with the main help contacts in Czech Republic (information about the evacuation, possibilities of accommodation, charity contacts…). This information comes from our partner Midpoint Institute.

Lastly, for the member of TorinoFilmLab’s community here in Turin we let you know that our Museo Nazionale del Cinema is collecting medicines and essential goods; every day from 9 to 19 (excluding Tuesdays).

We invite all the people of our community to prompt send us info about any other initiatives in support of Ukraine: we’ll immediately add them to the list, it’s the least we can do for now.
Write us here: info@torinofilmlab.it

Thank you.
