Michael Koch is a Swiss screenwriter and director. He graduated at the Academy of Media Arts in Cologne, Germany. Besides his studies, he worked as an actor in various Swiss films. Koch made several successful short films, including "Poolside", premiered at Locarno 2006, "We Are the Faithful", awarded at Clermont-Ferrand 2006 and "Polar", premiered at the Berlinale 2009 and awarded with the German Short Film Award. Kochs debut feature film "Marija" had its world premiere at Locarno 2016. It continued to be screened internationally at festivals - such as Toronto, Busan, Angers and Göteborg - and won numerous national and international prizes. Since graduating, Koch also works regularly as a theatre director. Currently he is writing his second feature film "A Piece of Sky".
