Thomas Moritz Helm is a writer-director
from Germany. His passion for actors and
visual storytelling took him from the stage
(Thalia Theater Hamburg, Burgtheater
Vienna) to the filmset. First as a grip and
DOP, then as a writer-director. He studied
acting at the William Esper Studio in New
York and cinematography and directing at
the Filmuniversity Konrad Wolf in
Postdam-Babelsberg.
His graduation film A Brief Moment of
Joy was shown at numerous festivals
and nominated for the German Short
Film Award. The micro-budget feature
Before We Grow Old premiered at the 69th
Berlinale and was released theatrically in
2019. He is currently developing several
feature films and a comedy series.
