Biography

Michalis Konstantatos is a film and theatre director. He has studied film directing at Stavrakos Athens Film School, Sociology at the University of Athens and holds a postgraduate degree in Architecture from NTUA. Since 2002 he has been directing films, commercials, music videos, video-installations for public spaces and theatre plays. He has written and directed two short films: ONLY FOR EVER (2003) and TWO TIMES NOW (2007), which won many national and international prizes. His first feature film LUTON (2013) took part in L’atelier 2011 of the Cannes Film festival and premiered at New Directors Competition of San Sebastian film festival 2013. LUTON was also nominated for the Best First Feature award at the 2013 London Film Festival, after winning Best Directorial Debut at the 2013 Athens International Film Festival and CPH:PIX Award – Honorable Mention. He is currently developing his next feature film ALL THE PRETTY LITTLE HORSES. He is also the co-founder of Blindspot theatre group and he has directed all its performances in Greece and abroad -such as “Hedda Gabler” for Onassis Cultural Center, “Blink” for National theatre of Oslo and “Hotel” which was shortlisted as one of the best plays in Europe in Berliner Festspiele 2017. One of his last projects was the solo-performance "One Person at a Time" that conceived and designed with performer Yota Argyropoulou. It was presented at Benaki Museum for the exhibition "As One" of Marina Abramovic Institution and organization NEON.
