As writers, we’ve always had a passion for stories about women who are brought into arduous, unexpected situations where they have to prove themselves by taking on the roles that are usually designated for men.
Our protagonist Ksenija is an accommodating, overprotected woman who enters the obscure universe of drug trafficking, loan sharking and high-end theft, convinced that this is only temporary. This unusual “fish-out-of-water” perspective gives us a unique opportunity to mix genres, specifically crime drama and black comedy, which is an underexplored area for series with female leads. We believe that by achieving the right balance between the dark, twisted tone and the comedic elements we would make the viewers feel the difficulty, and the absurdity of Ksenija’s struggle more strongly.
Inspired by real-life events from our hometown, Lady Driver is a local story that asks the age-old, universal question: when your life turns upside down, how far are you willing to go to protect yourself and your loved ones?
