Another rich edition of Cannes Film Festival (12th – 23rd May) closed its gates. TorinoFilmLab was there with 5 feature films, three of them developed with the support of Creative Europe – MEDIA Sub-programme of the European Union: in Un Certain Regard competition, THE MELTDOWN by Manuela Martelli (Chile) and TITANIC OCEAN by Konstantina Kotzamani (Greece); at the the 58th Quinzaine des Cinéastes, 9 TEMPLES TO HEAVEN by Sompot Chidgasornpongse (Thailand).
TFL congratulates with Aina Clotet (Spain), who won the Louis Roederer Foundation Rising Star Award for her lead role in Viva - competing at the 65th Semaine de la Critique -; and to Sarah Arnold (Italy-Switzerland), director of Too Many Beasts, which received the Europa Cinemas Label as Best European film in the Quinzaine des Cinéastes section.
Congratulations also to Federico Luis (Argentina) – alumnus FeatureLab 2025 –, winner of the Palm d’or with his short film For the Opponents and to Berthold Wahjudi (Germany-Indonesia) – alumnus ComedyLab 2025 selected at the Semaine de la Critique – winner of the Canal+ Award for short film with his "Vaterland" or A Bule Named Yanto.
It was such a big emotion seeing some TFL community’s members in the juries too: Diego Céspedes (Chile) in the Feature Films Jury; Laura Samani (Italy) in the Un Certain Regard Jury; lastly Carla Simón (Spain) – as President – and Magnus Von Horn (Sweden) in La Cinef & Short Films Jury.
In the frame of Cannes, besides screenings, TorinoFilmLab organized many networking meetings, such as the usual Meet TFL @Chez TFL and the TFL Alumni & Alumnae Brunch (always a great success!). For the first time, in 2026 we’ve organized Sustain-A-Sip, an apéritif with partners Green Film, Ecoprod, Climate Spring and Eurimages, that was a great chance to meet partners, colleagues, Green Labs alumni and alumnae: all together for an informal drink, talking about sustainability.
The countdown for the 80th edition of Cannes Film Festival has already started…see you next year!
