Biography

Rory Gleeson is a screenwriter, novelist, and playwright. He studied Psychology at Trinity College Dublin and earned further degrees in Creative Writing from Oxford University, The University of Manchester, and UEA He was the 2019 Burgess Writing Fellow at The University of Manchester where he mentored prose and screenwriting students and is a Writing Mentor for postgraduate students at City, University of London. He received a Literature Bursary from Arts Council Ireland in 2020. His debut novel ROCKADOON SHORE was published by John Murray in January 2017 and was the Easons Book Club Book of the Month. His play BLOOD IN THE DIRT with Landmark Productions debuted at The New Theatre in November 2019. THE BODY AUDIT was shortlisted for the BBC National Short Story Award 2021. His short film PSYCHIC was funded by Screen Ireland and Sky Arts, and premiered at the Galway Film Fleadh in 2018. It was screened in competition at various film festivals including Dublin International Film Festival, Seattle International Film Festivals and Savannah International Film Festival, receiving an Honorable Mention at Foyle Film Festival. His feature THE FOUNDATION is in development with Pencil Trick Productions.
