Sergio Recchia

Italy

Biography

Sergio Recchia is an Italian filmmaker, born in Apulia and working internationally. Graduated from Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia in Rome, he deepened writing/directing studies through courses with Umberto Contarello, Giorgio Arlorio and Abel Ferrara and at Transatlantic Lab at Reykjavik Film Festival, PugliaExperience and Producing Lab at Locarno Film Festival. Sergio's directorial debut was TUTTO BENE (2008), a low budget but effective short film that achieved several awards and soon became a small indie cult thanks to an affectionate audience around it. He has then written/directed an experimental documentary in Spain, ONE DAY, for documentary series “Barcelona Film Project”, funded by Catalan Films & TV and presented in Cannes Film Market and San Francisco. His next short film is about to be distributed: SOMEONE ELSE, starring Anita Kravos (from the Oscar-winner film "The Great Beauty"), financed by Regione Puglia, Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia and Italian CNC. He took part to TorinoFilmLab where he developed and pitched the project SHIFTING - culture crash / coming-of-age of an Italian boy in Berlin (where the author has lived). This screenplay caught the attention of several producers and it is ready for co-production. He is now developing another script for feature film project (prequel to SHIFTING) set in Apulia - Italy.
